Statistics show that lasik vision correction has more than a 90% success rate, however it is also known that only 55% of patients actually achieve 20/20 vision. For a lasik procedure to be deemed a success, a patient should achieve 20/40 vision after the procedure and healing process is complete.

Getting lasik surgery is not a decision that should be taken lightly, complications can occur. The actual procedure is quick and generally painless. Complications are usually during the recovery. Most patients describe recovery as a few days in length, but it is important to realize that a full recovery will take about 6 months. During your recovery period it very important to be aware of any of the complications that your doctor describes to you. Report anything out of the ordinary to your doctor as soon as possible. Taking care of these types of problems usually depends on quick action.

When choosing a doctor, you should do your home work spend an extra bit of time finding the right doctor for you. Remember this decision is one you will live with for the rest of your life. You should never feel pressured by a doctor and you should feel like he has time to answer all your questions. Remember, Answering questions is a major part of a doctors job. If he is not good at this can he be trusted with your eyesight.
